It’s already July and we’re in the second half of 2009! It’s been a roller coaster ride for the past few weeks. Anyways, I was inspired by this latest KFC TVC where a daughter is impersonating her mother who’s not yet around because of the tough job. At the end of the ad, the kid proudly remarked that there’s nothing she can’t handle. Woah! Well, after two-weeks of immersion, one of the good things I’ve seen is that a pattern has already been established in terms of my work and non-work stuff.

The top Google, Yahoo, Bing result in the keywords ‘Pinoy Pickup Lines’ is at jonas.ph on this post. As of writing it received, 537 comments with at least one comment a day since the day it has been published. The popularity of this post actually broke not just records but sometimes the Wordpress theme I am using as the css failed to render the desired output.

I spent an hour in reading the said post just to read each comments one-by-one. I took down the worth reposting and end up at least 60 of the best pickup lines. The list, which will be updated regularly and will depend on the activity of the visitors, is now at http://pinoypickuplines.tumblr.com.

The bumpiest ride yet of the year is the whole month of June. I expected June ride to be tough but not that I almost got swallowed by the series of unfortunate events. No, unfortunate events in parallel!

1. I have foreseen that the clearance would drag me to hell. I have clues – I’ve been a victim of the circumstances that even one of the benefits that I should be receiving as a regular employee I did not enjoy in my entire service. The worst is that my June 10 pay was included in the last pay wherein the latter earning is solely the total equivalent amount of the sick and vacation leaves. There’s shouldn’t be a problem if only the last pay would be given soon. Take note. 2 months in maximum. That’s how slow the process is. And I mean this – I should have left the company right away. No clearance. Given all these jazz.
2. The stipend I would get from my scholarship grant could save my financial life. However, since I am a freshman for this scholarship, I expect that the processing time could take longer which is synonymous again to delayed money. Well, I wouldn’t blame anyone here because I’ve experienced these things way back undergrad from another scholarship.
3. If you had able to catch the MMK episode earlier topbilled by Christopher de Leon, you could imagine the current scenario of my family. I would not give much details since it’s really personal and family matters. Marriage and parenting are being taken care of the father and the mother of the family. Good thing we don’t have the problem on the latter.
4. And yes, my parents are helping me out in my so called ‘recession’. It is supposedly smooth – no problem at all, provided that money arrives in the right time (just like Mafia Wars and Castle Age). But the truth is I’m crippled right now. Then, it’s hard for me to prove to them that my decision in leaving my work for master degree is the right thing if I’m already experiencing these things.

Oh well, what else should I do but to keep on driving.

I thought Fly to Cuba was only an advertisement or a raffle prize for lucky fans of Mafia Wars. But, it’s actually a new development of the game in beta testing stage which was announced weeks ago. And I’ve also found out earlier, this is not deployed to across all mob members. So I was really lucky among the first Mafia Wars addicts to test and to taste the latest additions to the game.

The invitation to the Cuban experience

Now, I’m taking you to the new battleground. So Cuba is red. (And New York is blue.) At least in the game as seen in the background images. There are new jobs to complete where you will need new items (there’s even Akon as Local Tough hahaha) to aid you in executing them. And since we’re in Cuba, peso is the new currency. You can’t bring the dollars earned before and there’s no money exchange tab. Likewise, you can’t ship in the items from your New York inventory. The only way to buy the new items is to execute the jobs and earn Cuban pesos. So it’s really a new world here.

Newest set of missions

The energy requirement is quite high since the jobs are meant for at least level 35 folks. The titles you will earn are also new. Cuban / Spanish of course. But the energy and stamina remain shared between Cuba and New York. Of course, it is your profile.

Replaced the Properties tab

Plantations and factories replace casino and restaurants. To earn money, you have to sell the crates of products like tobacco, sugar and car stereos.

New weapons, armors and vehicles

You have to build your reputation by acquiring new set of weapons, armors and vehicles – all are different from the New York items. Loots are shared though. I am not sure of the Collections since I’ve not picked up something from my jobs.

The upkeep costs in different unit. Now it is called Bribe penalty. This is the pay out to keep the cops quiet. New York items with Upkeep costs continue to reduce your income in New York, but do not affect your bank balance in Cuba.

And Godfather remains omnipresent.
