Friends, meet the latest addition to my family, Lobo.

Lobo, Alaskan malamute, malamute, dog, ABS-CBN

He is an Alaskan malamute and often confused with a Siberian husky. (Although, a child in our neighborhood approached me and asked if Lobo is a Siberian whisky. Lol. Ginawang alak lang.) I adopted him from his parents, and my friends, Ace and Tin. They named him Lobo few weeks before the ABS-CBN series entitled Lobo was aired. And yes, it’s because Lobo looks like a wolf.

He’s quite stressed during the first night (of the year) the couple has brought Lobo in our home. In human and Pinoy terms, namamahay pa siya. Yet, he became at ease the following days. He already knew me before he came in Bulacan. When I dropped by at his parents’ home, I was already talking to him (and to other pet dogs Ace and Tin have). He got a friend in the house so it’s easy for him to be introduced to the family members.

After the second day, he already knew where to pee and to poop – that is outside our house. He would bark at us to signal that he’s going to excrete his wastes. And so we walked with him outside. That’s our covenant. He won’t poop inside as long as we take him outside. But sometimes, he just wanted to play with me and to be walked along with. It could be as early as 5AM or late as 9PM.

He, of course, outshines his brother. I seldom go outside in our neighborhood so I’m expecting other would notice ‘braso’. But no, the ‘aso’ is the star. Yeah, I admitted the fact he’s more gwapo than me.

Here are some of his interests:

  • butterflies – not sure if he likes it or dislikes it
  • askals and cats – dislikes them
  • his coat to be brushed
  • to sing a lullaby before he sleeps
  • bow wow dog food
  • water, cold water
  • chase turkeys

The fun of taking good care of Lobo is that the whole family is enjoying it… big time!
