Global Fun Carnival is not that good if you compare it with Enchanted Kingdom and I think even with its neighbour Star City. We heard lots of bad publicity from friends about the theme park before we went there but when they started to narrate how cruel the rides are… we (at least Dans and I) got more excited. Cruel means cool.

GFC is our plan B when we can’t finalize our out-of-town barkada trip. Compared to EK wherein only four (Kido, Jeff, JP and I) joined and enjoyed, this is going to be more fun because Jay is joining (Take note it’s Friday and he came) and the couple, Jason and Larisse, too. Good thing for Kido, Jay can accompany him. Joke. This translates also with Dans and Jeff, and me and my camera.

Jason and Larisse. Kido and Jay. Jeff and Dans. Me and my camera.

We gave respect to Taweng’s mom before we proceed to GFC along with other officemates. Chinese and Filipino superstitions tell that we must not make our way to home immediately right after going from a funeral wake. Someone who doesn’t believe had commented, ‘You’re heading north while I’ll be travelling south… Kaya nya tayong sundan?’ Although we would be on the extreme opposite mood to be in the theme park, at least Dans, who’s a Chinese, will not be guilty for not telling her traditional parents that she’s going to a funeral. Otherwise, Dans may not come. That’s what I used to think about Gerry, who happens to be also a Chinese, for not gracing. When he came with his girl space friend to GFC, iba pala.

Seven people on a moving car repeatedly reasoning ‘Wala Eh No Choice’ to every event, question and rumbling we encounter is also fun and joyride. Ang sikip naman. Wala eh no choice. Naligaw na tayo. Wala eh no choice. Why are you applying to our company? Wale eh no choice. All of these started when Jeff has no choice but to ask us to jump in to his car in the middle of a heavy-traffic and narrow street.

Finally we’re in GFC. We tried their Flying Fiesta version knowing it’s a good starter. But no! It has a smaller circumference yet has more speed than EK. Its tilt is incomparable while we are suspended on higher heights. I attempted but failed to take video which I succeeded last time in EK.

Condor pala ito!

Our second ride was their scary-scaffold-filled Roller Skates. I thought we’re going to recover but the two sudden dips of the course and safety lock of the carts hurt our tummies. We went to popular blockbuster queue of bump cars as our preparation in the dangerous Ranger. There’s no excitement on bump cars but having no traffic rules is fun.

Pang-friendster pic na naman

And to the ride of the night – Ranger! It’s more than Space Shuttle and Anchors Away combined. While we’re suspended in the air for a moment upside down, I’m shooting videos and pictures. The ride has a total of nine 360 degree turns with increasing degree of excitement turn after turns. But you can’t easily count the number of turns inside the Ranger prison. At the end of the night, we circled and rode Ranger three times.

We also enjoyed their Ferris wheel – making stories of scenes we witness per cabin, happy barkadas, lonely single, lovely couples except with the ITSS-like and pa-sweet na guy and another pair of g_ys wearing pink shirts.

A view on the Ferris Wheel. It looks like a pinball table.

We entered inside the haunted mansion. We laughed more than we screamed. Dans was still scared and she’s snug with someone. 60 pesos is not worth to be scared.

Wheel of Destiny? Wheel of Fate kasi yung sa kabila.

Right after the last Ranger ride, I decided to try rotating and revolving Flipper. They didn’t come with me this time. It took time before all of the seats were taken. Perhaps most of the GFC visitors don’t find the sense of the ride. Since I was already at GFC and probably my last visit, why try this for the first and last time? Tip: take this as your last ride.

We left GFC around 11 and went back to office to chit chat. There’s no magical thing on GFC but having friends around made the gimmick special.

It’s not global. But it’s fun!
