Presenting… My Dozen of Donuts Doughnuts. If there is a buffet of these pastries from top doughnut vendors, Dunkin Donuts (DD), Mister Donut (MD), Country Style (CS), Krispy Kreme (KK), GoNuts Donuts (GD) and Cello’s Doughnuts (CD), this would be my box of 12’s, assorted and not in particular order.

2 DD Choco Butternut. A Dunkin classic and best-seller. It’s not butter. It’s not nut. It’s orange but not orange.
2 CD Oreo. Yumyum crushed oreo. Try it on a chocolate dough. Don’t forget to add toblerone dip.
2 CD Cheese. It’s not an ensaymada treat but this flavor is definitely to those who stay away from chocolates. Love it while hot.
1 MD Swiss Mocha.. Bittersweet chocolate that should not be tagged with mocha since it’s not coffee. Mister Donut and Dunkin Donuts have their own recipes for a number of doughnuts with same flavor. Swiss Mocha is original and the only one.
1 DD Bavarian.. And those sugary powder. Better than MD.
1 KK Hershey’s Cookies ‘n Cream. If it’s from Hershey’s, it must be good.
1 GD Choco Caramel Zigzag. Insanely diabetic-prone delicious.
1 KK Hershey’s Dark Chocolate. Another bittersweet treat.
1 CS Triple Choco Log. Chocolate overload log with frosted chocolate on top and chocolate filling.

Delicious dozen of doughnuts is a dose of dextrose. Still…

  • Heaven & Hell

The week of August 21 is uber busy week. I am occupied by perm.sh of Security TeG and prework of support package and kernel patches build of Quality Maintenance Release TeG. I stay at least 10 hours at office working with record-breaking minimal break and chitchats. The jobs had piled up from last week when I was the DM and can’t do anything else but DM. A hell week indeed.

I am not complaining that I have those work where in fact I asked for them, non-administrative work in security and immersion on QMR world. My rants are just involuntary response to my working environment. Quote.

The spirit is willing, but the body is weak. Matthew 26:41.

Unquote. And G1* system is coming.

And it was only in Friday that I broke loose. Okay I stole the limelight and everyone else’s attention as I arrived to office rocking like a star. It was a little pamper to myself and a preparation as we will be recognized with a Quarterly Excellence Award at the coffee talk. I have been excited to attend coffee talks only twice, the first one and the recent. The latter is due to the Site LT awards and for the reason that my abstract paper is going to be mentioned in the gathering of HP employees.

After the coffee talk, Jeff, Kido, JP and Francis and Alex (who I used to interchangably identified Rachel’s boyfriend and boy friend) headed to Antipolo where Jeff’s den slash home poker arena is located. We went to Mister Kabab for stopover. Visits after visit add points to my satisfaction and craving for their specialty. Oxbrain and chelokebab are superb. It took some time and most of us joked that we had crossed the International Date Line before we touched down ground zero.

It was past twelve when no-friendly-game poker tournament began. At the first session, six of us bet hundred bucks and the pot ended at my hands. We called to raise the bet double and this time Kido managed to grab the one thousand two hundred pesos while the other hand’s at the keyboard for the mySAP upgrade. And to close the bigtime night with someone losing 500 bucks flat, the last session’s prize at stake is one thousand two hundred pesos again. And again… I won. I wanted to give a pakimkim or balato through 8-Mcdo but the store near Jeff’s house will open at 6. It would be two more hours and maybe all of us are sleeping. Small time sessions continued before and after we slept leaving Jeff and Lex empty handed. Well, at least, Lex won to our new learning – bridge card game.

I am prepared for Saturday gimmick with May. I brought sets of clothes and few grooming etsos. So right after we trek down from hills of Antipolo, I went to Greenhills. We should be joining my CS batchmates in our reunion but only Sheryl and Jeff took their time to bowl. So technically, it’s cancelled. They headed to Megamall whereas May and I continue what was previously planned. Lucky strikes. Thanks to my net winning and we had maximized our pinning down fun. She’s a bowling player.

We decided not to hop at the Cursor party – (1) I am very sleepy (2) I can’t party while carrying two big bags.

I arrived at home past nine. Few hours after, this entry was posted.

  • Destiny’s Child

I am also a believer of destiny ever since. The more one defines it the more obscure it gets. The uncertainty of destiny knocks me off that just recently having such faith on fate failed me. Yet, I’m still a fan.

The hopeless and hopeful romantics embrace such fantasy. Bloggers could blow up their destiny tag cloud or could have exchanges of lengthy blog posts to defend their beliefs. Destiny is also an important element or theme in some blockbuster movies, TV shows and successful literature. Sport commentators and columnists use and pair it with dynasty. But I don’t like it because they somehow ruin the word out of playing letters and rhymes.

Here’s my short piece on destiny.

Although it is usually associated with love and relationship,

destiny is more than a romance that is meant to be.

It is synonymous to the belief that there is a fixed arrangement or natural order. And if you believe on destiny, you also believe that everything happens for a reason.

Yes, I do acknowledge free will. But a spirit, one God, or whatever your faith is, the world seems conspire to bring one to a predetermined future that might be away from what one expects. It is like that you have a destination that no matter what paths you trail you will arrive at that destination. How long the journey will take depends on one’s choices but you’ll eventually get there. Choices we make plus the chances we take determine how far or near our destiny is.

Destiny is not confined with certain time frame. My father once had a girlfriend. They might found themselves before each other’s destiny – lover’s instinct. But my mother came and later I was born. (Yeah, I spilled it. Wahaha.) To the ex-girlfriend, she might think Papa is not her destiny. But I should say that they’re destined to meet for whatever reasons the characters of this telenovela don’t know. And I will add that what happened is not just an accident (or disgrasya) – that I, my brother and sister, are my parents’ destiny. Otherwise, we ended broken family, right?

But be reminded, my friends. Destiny could blind and mislead us. What I am saying is that sometimes we become sightless and insensitive on what have now. Thus, we are looking for something else better destined. We are prone to be taxonomists categorizing and labeling people and things around us, who is Mr. or Ms. Ideal and who is Mr. or Ms. Real.

Know what and who you value most.

If we accept their imperfections today, we will realize that we are actually with our destiny everyday.

Or it could be even just like what a radio station shouts… ‘Yesterday pa!

I believe in destiny but I treasure the journey towards it most.

Serendipity is another one – defined as an instance which one accidentally discovers something fortunate while looking for something else entirely. Claudette, Riya, Gina, Mai, Roi, Resly, Jason, Singkolar Society, Ia, Phil, Jordan, Riza, Jay, Kido, Kat, Myk, Shububu, Parokya, Kapuwersa and everyone I fail to mention, you are all serendipities while I am looking for something else called destiny.
