I should have blogged this a week ago right after the Galera experience but as expected work piled up while I was dipping on the salt water of Mindoro.

Only few knew about our escapade, an overdue escape from tickets and Outlook messages. The plan is not actually to hop to Puerto Galera. Indeed a last minute change. It used to be a soul searching trip on a private island resort of Batangas. However, since my co-trippers already found their soulmate on each other, it’s call for a celebration – partey time! Oh well how about my own soul searching? They promised to look for someone in the island. Mission name: Night Life.

We wanted Kat to go with us along with other Shububu’s. However, she’s a work addict. She would be the fourth wheel I guess. Jay is DM. Kat chose SAP over Galera, I had to accept the fact that I will be the MH – malaking hadlang – between Kido and Jen. Nah.

The excitement began while riding the ferry. It was almost-an-hour cruise looking at the wonders of the sea and islands. I think we are so bored or just really geek to talk the physics and biology on almost everything we looked to. Why is the sky blue? Buoyancy? Origin of human species? We oathed not to talk about any SAP terms and there we are talking high school and college stuff.

We arrived at the White Beach, four in the afternoon, empty stomach. We hadn’t eaten lunch. We had to validate our tickets and should have decided when to depart from Mindoro. Our option – two nights. They also offered us to their snorkling promo. Snorkling is included in our activity lists. We found a good room for us to stay. Nakamura! We headed for a gastro trip and kebabs. We were all excited as we watched others banana boating, volleyballing and all beach verbs one could think of.

It’s almost sunset when we plunged into the Mindoro waters. We were so happy that we’re crazy shouting all the work and slave drives we left. Some establishments already started bringing their noise louder. The couple asked if I’m ready for the Night Life. Go go go.

Our scientific talk kept on going but of course chat on matters of the heart was always present. Since we were quite tired we opt to have the Night Life the next night. We have to prepare ourselves and to wake six in the morning for our snorkling. That night, we stargazed and since Kido is a astrophysics fanatic, philosophical questions and answers didn’t end.

The night was young but we already went back to our room. I slept leaving the two do their thing. Their last activity which I know was playing cards.

Snorkling time! I already confessed before them that I don’t know how to swim so they will have an idea how bad would it get. I’m not afraid actually. In fact I’m excited. It’s quite pricey to just walk away. Woah! Time to dive with our snorkling tools. I imagined that my life lies on the life vest. I don’t know how to use that goggle-thingie. So in the first run, I haven’t almost gotten to stare on the beautiful corals. We were holding on a rope while the boat carried us. We were like superman flying above the reef. I guess half of the time I breathe above the water surface. Stupid kid who didn’t know how to snorkle. Kuya manong brought us bread to feed the fish. It’s fun when they came nearer. I saw a blue starfish and colorful sea species. What an experience!

After snorkling, we went to a private shoreline. It was like that we owned that Ayala territory. We continue snorkling and our photo op. It was 10 in the morning when we got back to the White Beach. We stayed in the room for a while to check emails. Yeah… we brought along work. Then we ate lunch. Then we nap so after that forty winks we will go banana boating.

However, we rose already 6 in the evening and we missed that chance. I found banana boat in Puerto Galera more exciting that Subic. Too bad that we couldn’t do it now. We had to leave the next day 9AM. We have to complete our activity list so we checked on the Night Life. Funny thing – it rained after a bottle of San Mig Light. So we’re back in the room again and played cards and betting. I lost some bucks. Tsk.

I woke up 6 in the morning to buy souvenir items – shirts, necklace, bracelets. I noticed that people were coming in. It’s Saturday – the rush we’re avoiding. I almost got tempted to ride the banana boat. I went back to the room to call a wakeup. We hurriedly packed our things, took our fastbreak last minute shopping, and waved goodbye to the island.

I definitely want to go back. It would be a better vacation the second time around. I need to master to breathe underwater. I will bring along the whole bunch of Shububu and have fun escape from work.
